More on Communication
Last time we talked about the value and importance of communicating important messaging and topics to all levels of your organization. But what about more mundane levels of communication? Day to day stuff. How do leaders go about doing that? Of course some of this depends on on your level of access to your organization. Are they all together in one spot or are they spread out nationwide or even worldwide?
Find a Way
For locals with whom you have daily access you can talk to them as you see them in the halls and at any assemblies you hold. For remote locations it requires getting out in the field for periodic visits. Bring regional people together to get more bang for the buck when you’re out. These things many sound simple. And they are. But they require tremendous dedication and commitment to pull off successfully. Leaders visiting or deploying to the field should always squeeze in a local office visit. It means a lot. And make sure you include everyone at every level if possible. They’re all your employees and all have a role in your organization’s success. It may take months or even years for you to get everywhere but people talk. And folks always remember when the big boss came to visit. (And they definitely remember when you came to town and didn’t visit).
